LIGHT PRODUCTS USAGE AND WEIGHT CONTROL HABITS SURVEY
The Calorie Control Council’s most comprehensive survey ever. Telephone survey conducted in February 1998 by Booth Research Services, Inc., Atlanta. This nationally projectable survey measures the prevalence of low-calorie/sugar-free and reduced-fat foods and beverage usage and compares it with previous years. Specific variables driving the light market are identified. Behavior, attitudes and interest toward weight control and dieting, healthy eating and fitness are addressed. For the first time, Body Mass Index is included in the data and fully cross-tabulated. Data on teen usage (ages 13-17) are also included for the first time. All standard demographics are incorporated, as well as custom data tables cross-referencing key light product and dieting attitudes and behaviors. Price per copy is $3,000.
A REVIEW OF LOW-CALORIE SWEETENER BENEFITS
A detailed research paper (58 pages), with foreword by Dr. John Foreyt, director of the Nutrition Research Clinic at Baylor College of Medicine, reviews the evidence concerning the benefits of low-calorie sweeteners. It also examines recent criticisms of low-calorie sweetener benefits, particularly concerning weight control, in light of current research and medical opinion. ($5.00 per copy.)
FAT REDUCTION IN FOODS
is a comprehensive technical review of ingredients and processing techniques used to lower the fat content of foods and beverages. This 110-page white paper includes 14 sections which cover the demand for low-fat foods, the ideal fat replacer, specific fat replacers (including information on ingredient manufacturing processes, structure, function, applications and regulatory status), labeling and regulatory considerations and the potential dietary impact of fat replacers. Fact sheets on 28 individual fat replacers and a reduced-fat food matrix (identifying the fat replacers used in major food categories) also are included. ($15 per copy inside U.S., $25 outside U.S. Price includes postage and handling.)
